In a tough bout between two AFC-East division rivals the New York Jets and New England Patriots two struggling teams tried to pull out a win. The Jets have yet to win a game this season and the Patriots have been struggling after 20 years of dominance over the AFC East.
New York and New England kept even foot throughout the first half but there was a momentum swing at the end. The Jets received the ball with 1:03 left and managed to score a touchdown in less than 40 seconds to extend their lead to 10-points. The second half started 10-20 but the Patriots struck first. New England put together a solid drive to cut the lead back to 3. The Jets answered with a long drive from their own to extend the lead back to 10 by the end of the third quarter. The fourth quarter between the two veteran quarterbacks started with a10-point lead and a 87% win probability for Jets quarterback Joe Flacco. Despite Cam Newton and Joe Flacco being both past their prime, they have proven to perform in the clutch.
The Patriots started off by scoring a 29-yard field goal. Joe Flacco then threw a costly interception on the first play of the Jets’ next drive.
This allowed Cam Newton and the Patriots to score a touchdown to even the score at 27. The Patriots defense then shut down the Jets to force a 3-and-out. With all 3 timeouts, New England then got back into field goal range and Nick Folk scored the game-winning 51-yard field goal to win the game 30-27.
